Breakfast wrap

We taste-tested a scrambled egg, muenster cheese, and lightly pureed and seasoned bean breakfast burrito/wrap on none other than Kris Clements. We made a spicy ketchup for it and he loved it.

Should we make them for all to enjoy? Would you eat one for a quick and healthy 20 grams of protein? Let me know your thoughts!

Parmasen vs Parmesan

I think that I misspelled one of our favorite cheeses in the last post….

Update!

Happy May the first! Where did April go? It seemed to quickly vanish into the warm spring air that welcomed us today! (except it sure was pouring rain early this morning on my way to the shop!)

We have been making great progress at Curbside; things are getting better all the time. Our small-scale catering is keeping us as busy as can be and we have been averaging about 40 lbs of chicken salad being prepared daily for our hungry customers that walk through our door each day. We have been creating new, homemade hummus options and a fat-free tzatziki dip with grated english cucumber is new to our lineup also. We have been having so much fun creating new combinations!

NEW chicken salad created by Alex… Parmasen and herb with lemon juice in the dressing. Come and get some on Wednesday, it is on our list of things to do.

We have a BIG day planned for tomorrow

This week has flown by at warp-speed. I cannot believe it’s already Friday again.

We have been seeing a lot of new faces at Curbside, so thanks to everyone who is helping to spread the word. Word of mouth is great!

After sell-out days throughout the week, we have our food-needs worked out and are making a perfect amount of food to satisfy demand. For a little while we were coming up dangerously short and nearly running out of food a bit too early in the afternoon. A great problem to have indeed, but I’m happy to say we’ve upped both our selection and production to keep our hungry customers happy. Thanks everyone!

We hope to see you tomorrow for Greek yogurt parfaits, quiche, breakfast croissants, chicken salads, egg salads, pasta salads, brown rice and beans, and lots and lots and lots of fresh fruit and veggies. Please feel free to request or suggest anything that we can continue to do to keep Curbside on the way up!

GOOD FRIDAY

Yes! We will be open tomorrow, Good Friday, from 6am until 6pm. We are hoping to make it a great Friday and we have lots of meat-free food planned for breakfast and lunch.

See you in the morning!

ANNOUNCING THE ARRIVAL OF …

Our new mini quiches!

Tomato, basil, and goat cheese mini quiches

These pint-size babies are a perfect breakfast for one person! One mini quiche provides the protein and vitamins of one whole egg, some fresh herbs, veggies, and some delicious cheese! Today we did tomato, basil, and goat cheese. Tomorrow we are planning on offering spinach, cheddar, and bell pepper personal-pan-quiches. Not only are they yummy for breakfast but quiche and a soup is a really nice lunch as well.

FRENCH VANILLA & BLACK CHERRY ANGEL FOOD CAKE PARFAITS … everyone’s favorite not-too-heavy delicious sweet treat. Stuffed pepper soup made with lots and lots of crispy bell peppers, brown rice, lean ground beef, and chunks of tomatoes. Split pea soup for Wednesday will be in the lineup as well. Sellers of the day today were our London Broil roast beef with olive tapenade on focaccia, double cheese-double meat Curbside Club sandwich, and chicken breast with avocado, artichoke pesto hummus and red peppers.

I used a lot of hyphens in this website entry. On a side note, it is supposed to be 60 degrees tomorrow!

Many new additions!

We are pleased to announce the expansion of our homemade baked goods due to the new and full-time addition of Alex to the Curbside team! Tomorrow will mark the official return of our locally renowned quiches. For Monday morning we are going to be offering a sausage, spinach, and mozzarella quiche made without any heavy cream. Instead, part-skim ricotta cheese was used in its place and you’ll love how well the flavors work together. Come hungry for breakfast because we will also be offering lemon bread with lots of fresh juice and zest, and granola with flax that will likely be paired with Greek yogurt.

Every minute counts in the morning when it comes to getting out the door and starting your day. I want to say thanks to everyone for making us such a regular part of your morning. Our breakfast has really been a growing part of Curbside’s business so we hope to continue its growth by offering always-changing, healthy, wholesome, and convenient food selections for you. Please let us know if you have any more breakfast suggestions. We appreciate the feedback because that is how we know what to make.

See you in the am!

Lenten specials

It’s been a popular question around Curbside… will we be having meatless specials for lent? The answer is YES!

Yesterday for Ash Wednesday we offered two kinds of tuna on sandwiches or salads, veggie and hummus wraps, and three soup options that all did not have meat. For tomorrow, (Friday) we are going to be having our famous egg salad, two kinds of tuna, brown rice and beans, Greek-style orzo pasta salad with Feta and veggies, and vegetable chili. In addition, some less traditional lunch fare that is still meatless includes Greek yogurt parfaits with fresh berries and almonds, scrambled egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches, fresh cut fruit, or even a peanut butter banana smoothie!

Fear not meat-lovers, we will still have at least a dozen options for you also!

Duquesne Magazine

While flipping through the pages of my Duquesne University quarterly magazine that arrived in the mail today, I noticed that there was an article about the shop in it! Hopefully I can track down a web link so that I can share it with everyone. Very cool!

50 in February

I just got back from the bank and my car was registering 50 degrees as a temperature! That’s incredible! Due partially to the unseasonably warm weather, we have been having record-setting days here at Curbside Coffeehouse. Our lunches have been standing room only, and that makes us smile at the end of every afternoon.

I made a soup that is a first for us. It’s a broccoli and cheese soup with freshly squeezed lemon juice added to it instead of broth. It was a interesting recipe that I thought sounded really different. How unusual to pair together citrus and broccoli? Anyway, it turned out great and is a featured soup of ours along with a made-from-scratch chicken and rice, veggie beef barley, and tomato basil chicken and spinach.

Tomorrow is Friday! I know that Fox Chapel schools are off for a long weekend so lots of folks will be sneaking away to the mountains to hit the ski slopes. Everyone have fun and be safe!

The sandwich seller of the day for today’s lunch was London Broil, bacon, and blue cheese with rosemary mayo on a pretzel sub roll. Back in action after a long break is Waldorf chicken salad!

Many thanks to all of our customers, new and regular, that continue to show us great support. Thanks for shopping local!
