Happy Birthday, Mom!
You are the best Mom around, and you made an awesome salmon salad today for the shop! (Those who missed it should try it next time, she has a secret ingredient and it is second to none.)

Friday’s are always a very, very busy day for lunch, so I’ve got the idea machine churning regarding my thoughts for tomorrow. I thought I would share some sandwiches and salad options that I know we will be preparing in the morning.
Let’s start with a cool new item, the Italian sausage sandwich on a ciabatta bun with marinara. The sausage is baked similarly to a meatloaf, and we slice it really thin so it fits on the ciabatta. It would be excellent on the panini press! I know we will make at least one tuna salad sandwich, probably our legendary Waldorf tuna. You can also count on at least three varieties of chicken salad options- likely cranberry almond, the red grape/almond/scallion chicken salad, and possibly a mayo-less option like the Tuscan recipe with marinated artichokes. Brown rice and beans salad with spinach is a given, as well as fresh fruit, cut veggies and homemade ranch, and our green apples and awesome PB dip. That dip is way too good.
On tap for coffee we have four options: Dark Velvet blend, Costa Rica Mercedes SHB, Decaf Mayan, and everyone’s favorite Nutty Irishman flavor.
Swing in for lunch! Fox Chapel has a half-day at school so I hope we see some teachers! They are all hard workers.
Today we ran out of espresso! So, we are becoming an ultra-hip coffee shop and using a single origin espresso, a Papua New Guinea bean that looks like a peaberry. Turns out, it is incredibly delicious… We might have found the new secret ingredient that makes our espresso-based drinks just that much better!
Best selling sandwich of the day? Roast beef and herbed mayo. Prettiest sandwich of the day? A loaded three meat Italian sub that my mom made. It looked like a picture in a magazine. What’s on the lineup for tomorrow? Something with Gouda cheese!
See you in the morning!
Come try some tomorrow! I have no idea what to call it; the ingredient listing is pretty cool though. There are sliced red grapes, toasted almonds, chicken (obviously), some scallions, and even a splash of orange juice!
If you think of a name to call it that keeps it distinguished from our other dozen chicken salads, your next sandwich is on me!!!
Let’s blame it on summer that I have not been keeping up with my website. When the weather is fair and the sun is shining, we are all sitting at our computers a little less…
That said, summer has been awesome! I hope yours has been way above average as well. One of the highlights of my summer was running a 20 minute and 42 second 5k race last month in Freeport.

The coffee/food biz has been strong throughout the summer. Thanks to all for making that happen! I am looking forward to seeing all of my school-year regulars that come down Powers Run and to Curbside for coffee every morning once school is in session.
Keep your eyes open at the shop for some of my homegrown tomatoes, cukes, and peppers that are making it into some of our homemade summer salads. Tis the season for awesome produce! Our garden is bountiful and two people cannot possibly eat all of the veggies that we are picking daily.
See you soon!

It is so nice to see Blawnox getting some great press. That should be great PR!
